Pierre-Paul EMIOT

Pierre-Paul Charles Emiot was a French landscape painter born in Marseille on October 22, 1887, and who died in Vitrolles on November 20, 1975. Trained under the painter Alexandre-Claude-Louis Lavalley (1862–1927), he specialized in depicting Provençal landscapes and Mediterranean coastal scenes, which make up the bulk of his work.

Beginning in 1920, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, one of the major art events of his time. His talent was recognized there when he received an honorable mention in 1934. As a member of the Salon d’Hiver, he presented several works inspired by the shores of southern France, including *Bords de côtes près Sainte-Maxime-sur-Mer* in 1929.

Through his work focused on light and the landscapes of the Mediterranean coast, Pierre-Paul Emiot established himself as one of the leading Provençal painters of the first half of the 20th century.
