Vlaams Hart" pendants, representing the heart of Mary, originated in Antwerp towards the end of the 18th century. Often in silver or silver-lined gold, adorned with rose-cut diamonds, they were offered as tokens of love. They come in two varieties: decorated with a wreath of flowers, or topped with a bow, a quiver of arrows and a burning torch, all attributes of ardent love.
