RARE WATCH WITH PORTRAIT OF NAPOLEON IER BY LECOINTE IN CAEN
18k (750 thousandths) gold quarter-repeating pocket watch, translucent blue enamel front, off-centered white enamel main dial, black railway minute track, black painted Arabic numeral hour markers, gold pear hour hand; it is adorned with two Jacquemarts automata in vermeil (800 thousandths) consisting of a woman draped in antique style and a man in revolutionary garb striking bells.
Hinged case bezel in gold (750 thousandths), case back in gold (750 thousandths) enameled in full on copper, with polychrome decoration of a portrait of Emperor Napoleon I, laureate and wearing the iron crown of King of Italy (1805-1814), in coronation costume.
Brass dust cover engraved "Lecointe à Caen" N°67. Mechanical movement with key winding, re-drilled double-screw cock, verge escapement, rosette for adjusting advance and delay, striking speed adjustment, quarter repetition with two hammers on dial-side double gong.
Movement partially functional at time of appraisal, with no guarantee of future operation or condition of parts.
Scratches and marks on the case, small enamel chips around the edges, the two gongs supplied but to be refastened. With metal and silver (800 thousandths) winding key and small boar charm.
First Empire period.
