VIARDOT Gabriel (1830 - 1904) attributed to. Moulded, openwork and finely carved stained-wood display cabinet with ivory inlay. Japanese-style reredecor. Cambered legs linked by a crotch shelf. The central part is glazed on three sides and opens on the front with a leaf and two drawers. It is adorned with ivory inlays featuring waders, figures and prunus branches. The top features an architectural niche embellished with a gilded bronze dragon. Second half of the 19th century. H. 161 cm - W. 54 cm - D. 36 cm This lot is accompanied by its CIC N°FR2407700016-K dated 18/01/2024. Gabriel Viardot, famous artist-craftsman and even inventor of a new taste inspired by the "Chinese-Japanese genre". He exhibited at the 1889 Paris World's Fair and was awarded a gold medal. A similar model is illustrated by Christopher Payne in his book "Paris, the quintessence of 19th-century furniture".
