A fourth-rate soft-paste porcelain "Urne Pompadour" vase, ovoid in shape and standing on a pedestal.
with lapis-blue ground and gold decoration of chinoiserie scenes left in reserve in cartouches
cartouches on both sides, wolf's teeth and gold fillets on the edges.
Damage and restoration to the foot and body, lid missing.
Manufacture de Vincennes, circa 1752.
Mark with interlaced LLs centered on a blue dot under glaze on the reverse.

History
The earliest Pompadour urn in fourth "lapis et or" size, sold for 120 livres to Lazare
Duvaux in March 1753, came from batch 68 (summer 1752). Virtually all examples sold
were of the same size and decoration, apart from three in third size (including two "lapis fleurs" and one "bleu céleste fleurs").
