Provenance:
- Émile Calando "père" (1840-1898), "amateur-marchand" in Paris, who considered it a drawing by Nicolas Poussin,
- Émile Calando "fils" (?-1953), who considered it a drawing by Nicolas Poussin,
- sold by the latter, in 1950, to René-Claude Catroux (1874-1964), an expert in Paris, as a drawing by Nicolas Poussin, for 15,000 francs.
- Probably acquired from the latter by Count Charles de Gramont (1911-1976), Paris.
