This is one of two posters offered by the publisher at the end of 1888. Every year, the publisher offered one (or two) different posters for New Year's gifts, to be displayed in bookshops or sent directly to future buyers (a number of these posters were folded and offered as supplements in the leading magazines of the time; the one we offer here was a supplement to the December 22, 1888 issue of La Nature).
