[Hetzel, Poster]. Étrennes 1880 poster. Illustrated library of education and recreation. Speciale à l'enfance et à la jeunesse. J. Hetzel & Cie, (Paris. 1879). 50.5 x 68.5 cm. Lithograph in black on the recto after Jean Geoffroy: a young letter carrier (or crier) shows a publication to the many children around him, a crowd rushes to enter a building (surely the bookseller-publisher's!). Poster for Librairie Hetzel, published at the end of 1879. The publisher offered one (or two) different posters every year for the "étrennes" (New Year's gifts), to be displayed in bookshops or sent directly to future buyers. Creased, small restoration in the upper margin (without affecting the lithography).
