BASILE LEMEUNIER (FRANCE/ 1852 - 1922) Portrait of Louis or Arthur Folloppe Oil on canvas Dedicated, signed and dated lower right: "A mon cher Ami Folloppe / son bien dévoué B. LEMEUNIER 1892". 29 x 23 cm Louis Folloppe was the printer of the first newspaper in Flers en Normandie, published in 1856. Arthur, his son, was a partner in the newspaper's management. But he died suddenly at the age of 45, from a fatal 80 m fall during a country walk with friends near La Roche d'Oëtre. La Journal de Flers disappeared during the Second World War.
