Northern Italy, Ferrara or Padua, late 15th century Poplar core case decorated on all sides with pastiglia on a gold background, resting on round, flattened feet. Decorated with scenes from Roman history: on the front, the torture of Marcus Atilius Regulus in a spiked barrel; on the back, probably the continence of Scipio depicted seated on his throne surrounded by his soldiers; on the sides, Lucretia and Judith standing on pedestals. Lid decorated with masks. Northern Italy, Ferrara or Padua, late 15th century Height: 11 cm - Length: 16 cm - Depth: 9 cm (a few missing pieces, fully redecorated, posterior push-button)
