New Siege and Fortress Game (Germany, circa 1840) Neues Belagerungs oder Festungsspiel / New Siege or Fortress Game / Nouveau jeu de Siège et de Bataille / Nuovo giuoco d'assedio e di battaglia (Germany, circa 1840). Cardboard box, format 16.5 x 16.5 x 2.7 cm. Colored and gummed lithograph pasted on the upper side showing a heap of cannons, bombards, cannonballs, cuirass, white weapons, rifles, flags. The box contains a game plan folded in four, unfolded format: 24 x 25.7 cm, and a canvas bag containing twenty-five turned wooden conical counters (3.3 cm high). Classic assault game. The board, lithographed, colored and erased, features the typical assault game cross in the center, ending at the top with the fortress. The corners are occupied by military camps. The twenty-five wooden counters represent the soldiers, twenty-two of them in light-colored wood, two (defenders) in blackened wood. Complete
