Colorized and gummed lithograph on the lid, after Auguste Raffet: Napoleon on horseback among his officers during the German campaign in 1813, gilded and embossed frame. The box contains four lithographed plates (31.2 x 23.7 cm), colored and gummed, glued to wood and cut into jigsaw puzzles. Educational puzzle on the theme of French history. Each puzzle board presents four historical scenes, topped by remarks and comments. From human sacrifice by the Druids to Napoleon, Battle of Austerlitz. The image on the cover, lithographed after Raffet, the great illustrator of the Napoleonic gesture, suggests that the publication of this game was contemporary with the return of the Emperor's remains in 1840, at the height of the period of authorized Napoleonomania. A fine copy of this highly original historical puzzle.
