Cardboard soldiers (Alsace ? late 19th century) Cardboard soldiers (Alsace ? late 19th century). Seventeen cardboard soldiers, cut out, hand-painted and plinth-mounted. 13 to 18 cm high. Carefully copied from Silbermann models, these little soldiers have been carefully drawn, cut out and watercolored. Nine represent sappers (with their axes!), eight musicians.
