Sliding lid on which a chromolithograph is glued: title in ornate letters in the center, a circular medallion in each corner, each illustrating a province of France (Brittany, Normandy, Auvergne, Provence). The box contains twenty-eight wooden rectangles, 8 x 4 cm, 6 mm thick. A lithographed fragment of a map of France is glued to the top of each rectangle, while a domino is depicted on the underside. An educational game combining an elementary puzzle to reconstitute the map of France in departments (the annexed provinces appear in a sad verdigris color) and a classic domino game. To entertain little French children while they waited for a tomorrow that was sure to be (un)singable. Uusres
