Attributed to Antoinette Cécile Hortense Haudebourt-Lescot (Paris 1784-1845 Paris) The Young Mother or Devotion to the Virgin Mary Oil on canvas (original canvas) 54 x 46.5 cm. On the back, on the stretcher, handwritten annotation, probably dating from the early 19th century: 1085 Presented in a Romantic period molded and gilded wood frame. This composition, which combines picturesque charm and moral elevation, seems to have been a popular success, as evidenced by the contemporary copies listed: by Émile-Antoine Ferrière (1815-1888), on porcelain plate, presented by the artist at the Salon of 1837 (number 688 in the booklet), under the title Hommage à la Madone; and by Amélie Pourmarin (1803-1879), on canvas dated 1841 (anonymous sale, Boulogne-Billancourt, Rey et Guinot, June 29, 2013, lot 99).
