Based on the original work dated circa 1699/1705, in the Musée du Louvre (Paris). This vase was created from an order of marble blocks acquired in 1699 by the Direction des Bâtiments du roi for four vases to be placed at the bottom of the stairs of the Cascade des Nappes in the Parc de Marly. The order was placed with Anselme FLAMEN (1647-1717), Nicolas COUSTOU (1658-1733), Pierre MAZELINE (1633-1708) and Claude POIRIER (1656-1729).
