Based on the original work in the Musée du Louvre (Paris), discovered in Velletri, just outside Rome, in 1797 and dating from the first century AD. It represents the goddess Athena, based on a Greek bronze model dating from the 5th century B.C. and given to the sculptor Crésilas.
