H. 67 cm W. 23 cm D. 24 cm We know of another print, in the Musée du Louvre (Paris), originally made for the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and based on the original work in the Arenberg collection in Brussels. In the catalog of the Musée de Narbonne (by Monsieur Tournal, 1864) - a museum which also holds a plaster cast of this type - it is stated that this original work was discovered in 1819 in the canal that carries the waters of the Nile to Alexandria and was acquired by Monsieur de Roussel père, Consul General in Egypt, who undoubtedly had the plaster cast in question drawn and donated to the Musée de Paris, now the Musée du Louvre. As for the Greek model, incomplete in our case, showing the goddess untying her laces before her bath, it probably dates from the 3rd century BC and has often been taken up and interpreted.
