Based on the original work in the Musée du Louvre (Paris), discovered in the 19th century in the ancient city of Caesarea of Mauretania, now Cherchell in Algeria, and sculpted in the 1st century AD. Our man was a Berber king allied with Rome, grandson of the famous Cleopatra and Marc Antony, who was mysteriously murdered on Caligula's orders and his kingdom annexed to the Empire.
