Catalog for the famous exhibition of Man Ray's photographs in New York and Paris. Illustrations include a portrait of Man Ray by Picasso and 104 photographs by Man Ray reproduced in heliogravure. Bilingual French-English texts (except one in German and English) by Man Ray, Paul Éluard, André Breton, Marcel Duchamp under the pseudonym of Rrose Sélavy and Tristan Tzara. Autograph letter signed on verso of title: to Max Ernst / amicably / Man Ray - April 1934 Very fine provenance, the two men being closely linked: twelve years later, in 1946, in a double ceremony, Man Ray married Juliet Browner and Max Ernst, Dorothea Tanning. A very faded, slightly warped copy, with light wetness at the foot.
