André BRETON. D'une décalcomanie sans objet préconçu (decalc - Lot 62
André BRETON. D'une décalcomanie sans objet préconçu (decalcomania of desire). No place or date [Paris, March 1936]. Autograph manuscript in green ink, signed, 1 page in-folio on blue paper. Precious autograph manuscript of André Breton's founding text, published in Minotaure no. 8 in 1936. In 1936, Oscar Dominguez perfected the process that Breton immediately described as Décalcomanie sans objet préconçu (Decalcomania without preconceived object) and Décalcomanie du désir (Decalcomania of desire) in this famous, landmark article. A Japanese translation appeared in January 1937 in the magazine Aato. Translator Shuzo Takiguchi practiced the technique himself, and its use immediately spread throughout the archipelago. Mizue magazine was to offer the first examples in the May issue of the same year. A fine manuscript with several notes for typographers. It is reproduced in the catalog Sueños de tinta, Centro Atlantico di Arte Moderno, 1993, p. 10. Paper browned at top and bottom margins. Attached are two original decals signed in pencil, one by himself, on fine paper, the other by Oscar Dominguez, on cardboard (16.7 x 22.7 cm; 22.3 x 16.7 cm). Both are reproduced in the catalog Sueños de tinta, pp. 60 and 62. 6 000 / 8 000 €
