Maurice BASKINE. Untitled. Undated. Ink, wash and pastel drawing on paper signed upper left (33 x 25.3 cm), passe-partout. Superb original drawing, signed. A surrealist painter and illustrator of Ukrainian origin (Kharkov 1901 - Paris 1968), Maurice Baskine joined the surrealist group in 1946 and took part in the 1947 exhibition at the Galerie Maeght, where he created the thirteenth altar entitled L'Athanor. Influenced by esotericism, he engraved three etchings for André Breton's Arcane 17, published by Sagittaire in 1947. Small perforation top left.
