[CURIOSA]. Etrennes aux amateurs de Vénus. A Paphos ou Cythere [Paris], sans date [1788]. In-16 of (2) ff, (8) ff for the calendar for the year of grace 1788, (2) ff, 12 ff. printed on verso only and 12 plates: red morocco, ornate smooth spine, green morocco title-piece, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, decorated edges and inner border, gilt edges (period binding). First edition? Illustrated with 12 handsome copper-engraved free plates. There is some uncertainty as to the different editions of Les Etrennes aux amateurs de Vénus: the first edition is undated, as here. A second edition appeared with the title dated 1788. The copy here is bound with a Calendar for the year 1788, printed on blue paper, which is not mentioned by bibliographers. A charming copy in contemporary morocco.
